Re: What colour should a Supermarine Spitfire be?

I've settled on the colours after fiddlin with the CAD format of the spit, it's either going to be brown and green mixed together, or tan and green mixed. Neither of them look half bad IMO. (...) (23 years ago, 3-Aug-01, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general)

Re: What colour should a Supermarine Spitfire be?

Thanks! Great pages with lots of pics! I've gotten about a three foot pile of books on WWII aircraft and spits over the past two weeks so I'm up to my knees in resources ( literally!) Thanks for the idea! I'm toying now with using lots of 1x1 plates (...) (23 years ago, 2-Aug-01, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general)

Re: What colour should a Supermarine Spitfire be?

Geordan, I found some info on a modelling page. Check this page out (URL) are some color photos of some spitfires under the aircraft reference section, and some profiles a bit lower down under the heading "Camouflage and Markings of No. 74 Sqn RAF (...)   Re: Ten Up

Cool! Ever since the minifig sculpture set came out, I've been thinking about how to build a gigantic scale version of one of the standard LEGO elements. Those pics are exactly what I had in mind. Rather than make a modified version of 3723, this (...) (23 years ago, 2-Aug-01, to lugnet.build)

Re: What colour should a Supermarine Spitfire be?

(...) Yeah I thought of making the spitfire two tone of tan and green or something like that, but the results aren't very apealing, it is impossible to get smooth camo lines with lego, that's why I figured that I may do decals instead, I'm still (...)   Ten Up

I hope I'm not stealing any thunder... but in my usual nosing around in the BrickShelf recent gallery I ran across this (URL) nifty! I think what I like best is that the stuff appears to actually lock together at this large scale!!! (23 years ago, 2-Aug-01, to lugnet.build)

  Navy Destroyer MOC

I've come across maybe two or three Navy MOC's. A few submarines, and even a couple of modern navy aircraft carriers but practically zero Frigates or Destroyers. After searching long and hard on Lugnet and Brickshelf I determined it was time to (...) (23 years ago, 2-Aug-01, to lugnet.build)

Re: What colour should a Supermarine Spitfire be?

Geordan, Most Wartime Spitfires were of a brown, and 2 shade green color, while Photo recon spits were a pale blue shade. Some USAAF and RAF spitfires as well as RN seafires were in a pale grey color that the light grey lego shade approximates very (...) (23 years ago, 2-Aug-01, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general)

What colour should a Supermarine Spitfire be?

Right now it is green overall with the underside of the wings and fuselage in light grey. It also has D-day invasion markings on the bottom as well ( black and white stripes on the bottom rear part of the fuselage) At this point lego doesn't make a (...)   Re: New MOCs: Minifig scale cars and trucks
