It's probably more a matter of taste and expediency. For example, I've changed the heads on all of my bearded warrant officers for smileys, to turn them into privates. I have a couple of questions the more informed members may know about. Do builders exchange the smiley face heads from one torso to another? I know this is a dumb question but the reason I ask involves the purchase at auction of the Imperial red and (...) (24 years ago, 18-Mar-01, to lugnet.build.minifigs, lugnet.pirates)

The Black Robot was built from 88' thru 91' it took about 2 1/2 years to create , back when I was a supervisor at UPS I spent $2000 on mostly Black Tron 1 sets, I had so many extra pcs. that I added an addtional $500 and created the Red Robot (...)
