    F-15E Strike Eagle —Ralph Savelsberg
Recently I completed building a 1/36 scale model of an F-15E Strike Eagle. The brickshelf folder is: (URL) I hope you like it. I've spent quite a bit of time on this one, and would appreciate your comments. Cheers, Ralph (18 years ago, 29-Jan-07, to lugnet.announce.moc) !!

Re: F-15E Strike Eagle —David Simmons
Hey Ralph, VERY impressive! As a younger man, I was very into plastic model kits of jet fighters, and the F-15 is still one of my faves. I can tell it is one of yours too! The attention to detail throughout is superb, especially on the angle of the (...) (18 years ago, 30-Jan-07, to lugnet.build.military)

(...) Hi Dave, Thanks for the comments. I too was into building model kits, as well as building with LEGO. I'm not much of a painter, so the model kits rarely turned out quite the way I wanted them to, so actually building planes with LEGO was a (...)       (...) this particular plane at least twice! I remember how I thought that it was just so awesome that the skull & crossbones logo was sported on the tailfins. Your appreciation for the decals in plastic model kits is very evident here, and gives me (...) (18 years ago, 31-Jan-07, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: F-15E Strike Eagle —Ralph Savelsberg
(...) Hi Dave, My love affair with the Jolly Rogers' Tomcat started a long time ago as well. As a child I had a model kit of this same aircraft. I've had a LEGO Tomcat ever since I was a teenager and while I changed its markings over time, the Jolly (...) (18 years ago, 31-Jan-07, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: F-15E Strike Eagle —Clifton D. Chambers
(...) Ralph, I grew up very close to Langley AFB, home of Tactical Air Command and the first F-15 squadrons. Your design rekindles some sweet memories of watching eagles take off doing a 90 degree climb with afterburners. Every detail is perfect on (...)         Re: F-15E Strike Eagle —Magnus Lauglo
Ralph, Very nicely done (again)! You've used limited but helpful SNOT techniches and come away with a great model. The nose especially is just beautifully done, and I like the missile designs. And you've clearly come up wotha very smooth way to fold (...) (18 years ago, 30-Jan-07, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: F-15E Strike Eagle —Ralph Savelsberg
(...) Hi Magnus, I myself don't really mind the studs, but indeed, replacing plates with tiles on the intakes would probably look good. I'll see whether I can find the right parts. As I wrote in another message in this thread, the nose was (...) (18 years ago, 31-Jan-07, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: F-15E Strike Eagle —Peter Ehrlich
(...) It looks excellent! I'm a big fan of the windshield, how did you make it? Is it stiff plastic or flexible? (Yes I'm considering making a custom windshield for one of my own mocs) Nice work on the landing gear also. Have you ever tried studs (...) (18 years ago, 30-Jan-07, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: F-15E Strike Eagle —Ralph Savelsberg
(...) It's relatively flexible plastic, from a document cover, which I carefully cut into shape and which is held in place with adhesive tape. I strated doing this years ago, and despite LEGO now producing somewhat better canopies (such as the one (...) (18 years ago, 31-Jan-07, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: F-15E Strike Eagle —Jonathan Lopes
(...) I know nothing about aircraft, but I do know this model is fantastic! Lots of excellent building techniques. The cockpit and landing gear catch my eye right away, as to the different layers that make up the wings. Another stunning replica from (...) (18 years ago, 30-Jan-07, to lugnet.build.military)
