It's not easy building in green... —Joe Meno
Hi all, After Brickfest, I was in the recovery mode and took care of the August NCLUG meeting. During the meeting Cary Clark gave out his monthly Useless Part, which was: (URL) a shuttle wing> Now, to me, this is not a useless part, but a Limited (...)         Re: It's not easy building in green... —Andrew Engstrom
(...) --snip-- (...) Oh, wow! This is great! This is one of the best all-(or mostly)-green MOCs I've ever seen! Of course, I may be missing someother outstanding creation... But anyway, this is really cool. I like the name and the acronym it (...) (21 years ago, 1-Sep-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: It's not easy building in green... —Joe Meno
(...) Thanks! If you only knew how long it took for me to make the acronym work:) And the sled basically made itself, and I'm very happy with the result...without the cockpit, the sled looks very dynamic. The problem was coming up with a cockpit (...) (21 years ago, 2-Sep-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: It's not easy building in green... —Chris Maddison
(...) Holy monkey crap Joe. Wow. That's the coolest thing I've seen in a really long time. I was looking at the first pic, and loved the powersled look - then lo and behold, you actually make it detachable! That's too sweet. I'll be back with more (...)          Re: It's not easy building in green... —Chris Maddison
(...) OK, now that I get to see the whole folder, even better. This is awesome. I like how the sled and craft have distinctly different looks, but also look good together. Nice landing gear, great angle play with the whole thing. I really like the (...) (21 years ago, 2-Sep-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: It's not easy building in green... —Joe Meno
(...) Thanks! One of the first things that I worked on was the corner plates..the body was built around them because I liked the overall feel of the 'radiators'. And I spent some playing with the angles of both ships. The landing gear is something I (...) (21 years ago, 2-Sep-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: It's not easy building in green... —Larry Pieniazek
(...) Way cool. I did not see where you used the shuttle wings in the design though. So did you try setting off both sound units while you are swooshing the warpsled around? :-) (21 years ago, 1-Sep-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: It's not easy building in green... —Joe Meno
(...) You can see the shuttle wings in some other pics in the folder, like: (URL) They're the plates that attach to the warp pods. And yes, I set off both sound units...they need to be synched up:) Thanks! Joe (21 years ago, 2-Sep-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: It's not easy building in green... —Stefan Garcia
Very cool. Neat use of those stinger things, they work really well to give it shape. The way you photographed it though, the whole thing looks teal. Which, I think, makes it look even nicer actually. -Stefan- (21 years ago, 1-Sep-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: It's not easy building in green... —Joe Meno
(...) Thanks! My pictures have a really odd color swing because of the interior light I use. And I have yet to get the hang of fixing that in Photoshop. And well, teal would have been a cool color to use:) Joe (21 years ago, 2-Sep-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: It's not easy building in green... —Eric Sophie
DANG! That is definetly very cool, wow. Both parts are hard to use, I try and try, and I have yet to use those parts too. Well Played. e (URL) (21 years ago, 1-Sep-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: It's not easy building in green... —Joe Meno
(...) Thanks! Some of the challenges I make are using 'useless parts'...keeps my technique on its toes:) Joe (21 years ago, 2-Sep-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: It's not easy building in green... —Jamie Neufeld
(...) Very nice work Joe. Way to make useless pieces into something awesome. I love the colors too. Great work. Jamie (URL) (21 years ago, 2-Sep-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: It's not easy building in green... —Joe Meno
(...) Thanks! I always have an interest in using new approaches, so useless pieces is another way to play with the bricks and plates:) Joe (21 years ago, 2-Sep-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: It's not easy building in green... —Sid Mark Dinsay
Well done, Joe! You've inspired a warp nacelle design (or two)!!!! :-) onedaycnn (sid) (URL) (21 years ago, 2-Sep-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: It's not easy building in green... —Joe Meno
(...) Thanks! This is my indirect homage to the warp sled in Star Trek: The Motion Picture, as I have been wanting to build that ship for the longest time... Joe (21 years ago, 2-Sep-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: It's not easy building in green... —Paul Baulch
(...) Rockin', dude. Great form and colour scheme. Looks like I might have to dig out my trans-neon-green elements and put 'em in a spaceship. Cheers, (URL) Sci-Fi LEGO> (21 years ago, 2-Sep-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: It's not easy building in green... —Joe Meno
(...) The first idea on my ships is usually to come up with a distinctive form, so thanks for picking up on that! Color, strangely enough, is based on what I have laying around in my bins:) And trans-neon-green is great for warp drives! Joe (21 years ago, 2-Sep-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: It's not easy building in green... —Nick Kappatos
(...) You also have another obnoxiously big part in there - the green Flash Speeder nose on the front of the shuttle! And it looks good! I love seeing Useless Parts in action. It gives the me hope that I can actually use all the pieces I thought I (...) (21 years ago, 2-Sep-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: It's not easy building in green... —Joe Meno
(...) It certainly challenges me, and it's fun...most of the time:) (...) The color scheme was something that worked itself out once I focused on what I wanted. And I have done a 'little swooshing' with both the sled and the re-entry ship! (...) (...) (21 years ago, 3-Sep-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: It's not easy building in green... —Larry Pieniazek
(...) So which came first, the color scheme or the acronym (noticing that acronym and the subject line together caused paroxysms of laughter to the point that it raised some concerns elsewhere in the household)? (21 years ago, 3-Sep-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: It's not easy building in green... —Joe Meno
(...) Color scheme. The acronym was an effort to figure out, but I wanted it really bad:) Just don't make me build a MISS PIGGY. Joe (21 years ago, 3-Sep-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: It's not easy building in green... —Allister McLaren
(...) C'mon, no-one could have that much pink brick. (But if you do, I dares ya) Allister (21 years ago, 3-Sep-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: It's not easy building in green... —Joe Meno
(...) Nope, haven't got that much pink here.... maybe a ROBIN for KERMIT... nahh... Joe (21 years ago, 4-Sep-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: It's not easy building in green... —Patrick Bunn
Joe, that thing is awesome. Excellent use of color, and hard to use pieces. I love the use of glowing green highlights they tie in the light up pieces very nicely. Job well done. Pat Bunn (21 years ago, 2-Sep-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: It's not easy building in green... —Joe Meno
(...) Thanks! As I work more with it, I find that trans-neon green is pretty darn cool to use:)! Now, back to Sea Monkey stuff...:) Joe (21 years ago, 3-Sep-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: It's not easy building in green... —Allister McLaren
(...) Thanks for proving once again that there's no such thing as a useless part with this excellent MOC. I love it. It looks supremely swooshable, and the extra playablilty of the detachable sled is a winner. My 5yo son* would love to play with (...) (21 years ago, 3-Sep-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: It's not easy building in green... —Joe Meno
(...) Thanks! I had a lot of fun building this, and it's 'flown' a few missions:) Needs a pilot, though, so I'm thinking about that. And your son is welcome to play with KERMIT:)! (...) You might fail the 5yo test, but you definitely pass the (...) (21 years ago, 3-Sep-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: It's not easy building in green... —Gil Shaw
(...) Joe, I think you are one of the premier colour builders here. Between your seamonkey stuff and your space dabblings, you bring together such wow forms out of often limited part selection due to colour. This is a prime example. Just gorgeous, (...)         Re: It's not easy building in green... —Joe Meno
(...) Thanks! I think one of my niches is building with unusual means and parts. The color use is a happy accident:) I really enjoy playing with the parts and seeing what happens, like the warpsled. That was literally me slapping on the light (...)
