I'm in agreement With Stefan,
Australians too would be ruled out by only allowing ntsc.
but I AM aware of the difficulties at Brickfest 2002, my submissions, for
example, were submitted in high bitrate versions (for optimun clarity, and
quality to show off my work at it's best :) ) on a cd-rom... the high
bitrate turned out to be a mistake, the hardware used to playback the files
was innadequate, luckily the low(er) bitrate/resolution versions of my films
were able to be downloaded via my website, and I ended up winning the
audience choice award anyway :-D
*cough* back on toic... I'm hoping there is a kind soul out there who would
have the appropreate hardware to recieve submissions via download or cd-rom,
and transfer them to a videotape suitable for playback at the event.
I also agree with Stefan, that a themed contest makes juging via direct
comparison easier, but an "open" event would be a good thing too (like
brickfest had the SW comp, and an open event)
I really wasn't expecting an animation event at brickswest, and now I'm very
exited about it... being able to see (in the case of brickfest 2002, via a
webcam recording the event+sound live and provided to brickfilms.com's
forums by the GREAT mrGraff) a live audience's reactions to the films is
GREAT, I never really get to see where/when people laugh or otherwise react
to my (and others) films... a public showing is really something I look
forward to (just a pity I can't attend, being all the way down here in aus! )
you "da-man" Todd :)
