I have noticed for quite a while that we (LUGNET users) have become laxed
about what is being posted to .lego.*

Based on the ng clarification posted by Todd:

http://news.lugnet.com/lego/direct/?n=6

We are all (myself included) guilty of posting unnecessarily to these
groups. As a result there is a high noise ratio to wade through. Perhaps it
is time for us (as a community) to start reducing the amount of posts to the
groups. Either that or redefine the clarification.

This is probably due to the confusion between the .dear-lego and
.lego.* rules.  I would like to make a more concrete suggestion: get
rid of .dear-lego, and create some .lego.* groups that are
specifically for discussions among lugnetters about TLC and its
policies, etc.  For example: .lego.wishlist can replace .dear-lego,
.lego.discuss can be added, etc.

Until the *default* web view (not just "an available view", I know it's
available) is without subgroups folded in, I'd rather see .dear-lego kept
off to the side and less traffic that belongs in .dear-lego misposted to
.lego.direct

Otherwise the default view of .lego is still noisy

That's my view anyway

Are you suggesting we put aliases on these pages:
  http://news.lugnet.com/lego/direct/
  http://news.lugnet.com/lego/

to .dear-lego? Because that's a pretty good idea.

Do you think the .lego charters could use a brief "normal version" along with
the more detailed message about posting there? or would then no one read the
longer message?

(...) No, but merely because I hadn't thought of it. I was just suggesting not moving .dear-lego (renamed or not) under .lego so that its content would not get mixed in when one viewed .lego from the web using the default interface. This is (...)
