Thanks for a thoughtful post on this subject. I wonder if there's room
for a civilized discussion of what people would like to see from TLC and
what people would not like to see. I think there have been lots of good
ideas floating around, unfortunately some of them have been hidden in
highly emotional posts, or have drawn highly emotional responses.
I've got some thoughts of my own, but will wait to share them in a place
where they will be truly appreciated.

My one immediate concern is that this clear policy direction may not be
clear to those who haven't been following the discussion. As I said
yesterday, I think the marketing volume is low enough that this is not
something which urgently needs to be addressed, but it has also been a
long time in the making.
I do think care is needed in formalizing this new policy though, because
I think there are good reasons for certain types of marketing posting
outside the lugnet.market... hierarchy. In specific, I think there is
room for marketing posts in the lugnet.loc... hierarchy and the
lugnet.org... hierarchy.

| Todd and I will be discussing this issue with LD next month. I'm hoping there's a good solution or alternative that we just haven't thought of yet. You can bet we'll be open minded and reasonable. We very much *do* want to see LD happy, and help TLC (...) (22 years ago, 19-Jun-02, to lugnet.admin.suggestions, lugnet.lego.direct) !!
