The Vikings, in their explorations and conquests, undoubtedly achieved
much. However it must be admitted that the leading edge of their expansion
chiefly comprised thugs, brigands and outlaws. Latter-day apologists have
attempted to soften the image but, by definition, the word Viking refers to
pirates. A Viking is categorically not a flaxen-haired maiden making
attractive jewellery by the side of a picturesque fjord, no matter what some
museum curators may imply.
So there you have it. Vikings are Pirates!
|
LOL well thats all well and good, but according to lego.com
it is actually a theme. Whether
you make it a subset of pirates or not, I think it still should have its own
group ;)
|
I agree. And not simply because Lego say they are a standalone theme. Once the
vikings leave their ships, they are less and less like pirates and more and more
like castle types.
When we get a few non-maritime viking mocs, it would seem wrong to put them in
.pirates, but in .castle alone they wouldnt link back to the maritime mocs.
Cross posting the initial announcement to both .pirates and .castle and setting
appropriate FUTs is a possible solution , I guess, but relying on posters
getting FUTs right is always problematic - I know Ive got a few wrong in the
past! LOL
So please: .vikings! (or .pirates.vikings or .castle.vikings)
Cheers

| (...) I would personally prefer to see .castle.vikings, or just make it clear that vikings belong in .castle. I really don't think of vikings as part of the pirate theme. I know pirates is kind of dead, but I hate to see all this really non-piratey (...) (19 years ago, 20-Apr-06, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)
