Things will settle down; they always do.

I have enormous respect for people's religious beliefs. Part of that
respect, in fact, is trusting that we all here are mature enough to put
our personal religious beliefs _aside_ when considering the needs and
desires of other individuals and groups within the community.
If your religious beliefs cause you to feel uncomfortable in the presence
of certain types of discussion, you certainly have the right to ignore the
discussions. In fact, the creation of the .lgbt group not only makes it
easier for LGBTers to discuss LGBT topics, but it makes it easier for you
to ignore LGBT discussions than if the discussions took place in .people
instead. How can that possibly be bad for anyone?

It would provide a safe space to discuss issues I find interesting and important, such as posting "Asian Girl" alerts (...)
