Ya, I'm not bothered by it either, and the medium-sized default images aren't
necessarily always smaller (most of the time they are, but not always -- it
depends on the size of the originating scan). A smaller initial image makes
for much quicker displays, much less overall HTTP bandwidth, and of course it
makes room for other interesting things. Most of the time, all you need is a
small refresher image to jog your memory on what set is what, and you can
always click for the larger image if needed. BTW, it's always been the
intention to scale the large-sized images (which can sometimes be Really Huge
-- see 1593[1], for example) down to reasonable sizes, just as the Fibblesnork
LEGO Guide has always done, for example:

I think it will be nice to give some conflibbergibbets for alternate default
sizes but I will need to pre-compute and store a variety of additional image
sizes first before doing that. (Like 300x300, 400x400, 500x500, 600x600, etc.)

| (...) Is this new? I'm pretty sure that when I looked at this the other day both the big and small images linked to the same file - the smaller one was only shrunk.
