   lugnet.loc.au - Australia

Many thanks.  What's the difference between lugnet.loc.au and lugnet.org.au?

lugnet.loc.au is basically for anything having to do with Australia.

lugnet.org.au is basically for anything having to do with Australia-based
user groups, clubs, etc. -- i.e., LegOz, Studs, etc.

Auctions, buying, selling, and trading between Australians are OK in the
.org.au group (because it's for specific group use and that's what the
people who requested it decided) and .loc.au is just like any other .loc
group.

It will get less confusing once a finalised name is chosen for the AU group
(or groups) -- IIRC, people couldn't decide between LegOz and Studs, so in
the interest of having a separate dedicated group up & running sooner rather
than later, one with a more general name was created (just .org.au with no
subgroups).  IMO, it really should be named .org.au.legoz or .org.au.studs or
.org.au.foofoo as soon as a name as chosen -- that will cut down a lot on
confusion.

Ahh, OK then.  The lugnet.org.au group charter seems to be a lot more
detailed.  Is it appropriate for people wanting to find Australians to post
to lugnet.loc.au or lugnet.org.au?

Ya!

I also know one copies messages sent to it to the other one, but don't know
which one.

That's personal preference -- it depends on what you have to say.  I wouldn't
recommend crossposting unless there's a good reason.
