  Re: Getting a password reset?

(...) Haven't set that up yet but I agree it's a good way to go. --Todd (24 years ago, 23-Jul-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: Getting a password reset?

(...) It'd probably go something like this -- 1. You request a new password at some web page. 2. Server sends a short confirmation e-mail to your known e-mail address. 3. You receive the e-mail and click the hyperlink to bring up a webpage to (...) (24 years ago, 23-Jul-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: Getting a password reset?

(...) Seems like the standard approach. Here's a wrinkle to think about. You allow multiple passwords. So are you going to generate a new one and leave the old one in force? What if I have 4 already? On the other hand, if you get rid of the old one, (...) (24 years ago, 23-Jul-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: Getting a password reset?

(...) typically, i've seen it where: 1) you request a new password (giving a little bit of personal info, name, etc) 2) it's sent to your last known email address. this way, if someone tries to tamper, the new password is sent to your email (...) (24 years ago, 23-Jul-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: Getting a password reset?

(...) It actually does now (as of about 3-4 weeks ago) -- to make it go, sign in with your member ID+password and then fill out the forms (news posting setup, skip-filter, news-by-mail settings) and they'll be stored into your member record on the (...)   Re: Getting a password reset?

(...) Cool beans! I love this "ask for a feature to find out it's already been implemented" idea. :^D (...) That would be *most* cool. I really like the way the brief mode works, with the suppression of quoted text and all that. It'd be most cool to (...) (24 years ago, 24-Jul-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: Getting a password reset?

(...) Heck, with an 'unlimited length' option, the brief mode would be a *great* way to view an entire thread -- you would get to see most of the actual writing, with almost none of the quoting. You'd almost never need the quoting, because you'd (...) (24 years ago, 25-Jul-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: Getting a password reset?

(...) Exactly! That'd be a great choice to have, as an option to choose along with nested full messages and the like - viewing an entire thread in brief mode. -- jJeff <jthompson@esker.com> "Float on a river, forever and ever, Emily" -- Jeff (...) (24 years ago, 25-Jul-00, to lugnet.admin.general)
