http server fell down

Apache (the HTTP server on lugnet.com) fell down a few hours ago at
midnight. Apparently a cron job is stuck doing a 'ps' and the reaper
hasn't killed it because it's gobbling up CPU cycles. This may or may not
be related, but it's a clue.
Not sure yet exactly what caused Apache to shut down. Will post an update
here when it's back up.
NNTP (news), SMTP (mail), and FTP are all still running fine.

| (...) Apache is back up. Hopefully some post-mortem analysis will give more clues into the reasons for its falling down. One thing I know is that 'ps' definitely has a bug which causes it to spin forever once in a blue moon, and if Apache was (...) (26 years ago, 11-Nov-98, to lugnet.admin.general)
