:) yes, I discovered that that "works." But that's not what I wanted to
happen. What I meant by "that doesn't work" is that I got
http://www.lugnet.com/news/lugnet.loc.foo.foo.foo
as a URL when what I wanted was
http://www.lugnet.com/news/display.cgi?lugnet.loc.foo.foo.foo
In other words, I wasn't expecting the base URL to be stripped back to the
last slash-separator. I don't understand the reasons why they strip it back
to the last /, so it seems really odd and unhelpful to me.

That's what I thought at first, but as far as I know now, it was an HTML
coding mistake on my part and not a browser bug.
