No, there wasn't any.

Yup! Several people noted that they had accidentally clicked a button and
submitted a rating on an article they didn't want to rate (for example
something in a .loc group they didn't want to interfere with, or an article
they hadn't understood enough to have an opinion on).
It was previously only possible to go back and erase submitted input by using
the /news/rate.cgi API. Now it's possible through the web interface as well
(which also uses /news/rate.cgi).

Yes, it erases your previous submission if there was one, or causes a no-op
if there wasn't.
If it's not immediately clear, could you suggest alternatives to consider?
All of the following were tried but looked odd: "No", "None", "No Rating",
"Don't Rate", "Erase", "Remove".

| (...) Unrate. If that's what it does. We were at one point talking about using rating as a way to tell that an article had been read. If that path is pursued, I'd differentiate between all of the following (somehow) states. never read, never rated (...) (25 years ago, 5-Apr-00, to lugnet.admin.general)
