I think a great side benefit of the article rating system is the fact that articles you've rated are marked with '>>'s. This alone makes it worth rating every article you read, as now you don't have to rely on having your browser remember which (...) (25 years ago, 31-Mar-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

(...) Which clearly means Todd's sw knows articles we've read, if we've rated them. Let's extend that to knowing ALL articles we've read. That enables a lot of better browsing options. If you're willing to have it assume that you'll read anything it shows you, and you're willing to have a "mark unread" button, then that could end up being (...)
