It's a HUGE deal. You leave a search button off a form by accident (on a page
with more than one form) and some poor user out there is up the creek without
a paddle, and probably doesn't know why, or can't switch browsers. :-(

IMHO, it was amazing and impressive that it all happened so fast -- 12-18
months or somesuch, and that it worked as well as it did, coming from MS.

IIRC, even as far back as NN 0.91 (then called Mozilla) was quite a ways ahead
of Mosaic. Originally, it started as a clone/rewrite but they took it it
amazing great new directions. MSIE 2 & 3 basically cloned NN at that point,
and came pretty darn close.

Haven't checked 5 yet. Most are still in 4, IIRC. All were in 3. In any
case, they're all still an issue -- have to have workarounds for 'em,
wherever possible. Something like the line-break problem, though, there's
no workaround for, and I'd be surprised if MS hadn't fixed that one.
BTW, does MSIE5 finally display this graph correctly?

or is it still broken?
Dang, I can't wait for Mozilla...

I'm sure we could find a lot of things in older (or current) versions of Netscape that don't work the way you or I want them to (...) (25 years ago, 18-Mar-00, to lugnet.admin.general)
