Agreement here, also. I've only heard it used defensively / aggressively, as
if the person saying is were too insecure to mention the "-sexual" part of
"homosexual". And in the context of Nan Zhou's stark message, I'd guess that
the only purpose was to provoke Selcuk in some way.
Though I take his apology (1) at face value. I've made some real bone-headed
gaffes myself.
