An interesting point and queation to match. My own feeling is that some
level of over-work is (perhaps) the reason. I would also venture
a pure guess that, in the case of the person to whom I first responded,
a certain amount of youthful {inexperience|inflexability} is responsible
for the tone and content of his post. I recall the 'first-timers' I
saw running BBS in my own time in that morass. It could well be
that this has turned an otherwise reasonable person into something less.

No and yes. <grin> Again, off-topic posts occur, both here and on any (every)
other newsgroup that I've ever inhabited. <shrug> Should they be condoned?
No. Should the person be reminded of the charter(s)? Yes, but -first- in
email....and only in 'public' if the person can't catch the first clue.

Concur.

I'm certain that we've seen -far- worse, just as everyone has. It's
regrettable. but hardly life threatening. Just think of the last con-com
meeting you attended <grin>.

| There seems to be a decline in civility here. It seems that some of the incivility is coming from people posting to innapropriate groups. What is going on? On the one hand, do we need to jump down peoples throats the moment they cross the line? On (...) (25 years ago, 4-Nov-99, to lugnet.admin.general)
