I think Dennis is reading via the web. There are N ways to view groups via
the web, the default of which is to coalesce the entire .robotics.*
hierarchy into a single virtual group at this URL:
http://www.lugnet.com/robotics/
So when the 6745-message Handy Board archive was injected into the
robotics.handyboard newsgroup last night[1], it was indeed a flood to the
robotics.* area (but not to the main .robotics group itself). It was also
a flood to the whole of the newsgroup hierarchy as viewed from the root
homepage.
Notwithstanding, two Handy Board messages[2] did actually show up in the
lugnet.robotics newsgroup last night. These two messages were originally
co-addressed to handyboard@media.mit.edu & lego-robotics@crynwr.com, which
map to the newsgroups lugnet.robotics.handyboard & lugnet.robotics (thus
crossposted). The messages were so old, however, that they were discarded
by the listserv on the output side.
So all is well.
