I see a couple of additional options, which you may or may not like.
1. Use a different newsreader to access lugnet. There's a lot of other great
newsreaders for unix. You'll have to configure them to use a file other
than ~/.newsrc, of course.
2. Or, configure pine to use different newsrc files. Launch pine with
pine -newsrc-path=~/.newsrc-lugnet
(I think that's all you need to do; I'm not a regular pine user....)
You can set up an alias, of course, so you just have to type "lugnet".

| Todd, I am trying to improve how I access the Lugnet newsgroups. I'm not happy with how I read things now, but I'm not sure if what I want is possible. (If it is, I'd love to be enlightened. If not, I'll grumble and find another way.) There are (...) (25 years ago, 16-Aug-99, to lugnet.admin.general)
