If you post a message along the lines of

"I'm trying to make the crossbow and I am having trouble getting the
intersection of where the loop folds into the stock, here's what I tried
to do
1. bla
2. bla
3. bla

That worked for me when I intersected the shaft with the string, why
doesn't it work here? Does anyone have some hints on how to do complex
curves or good parts to look at for examples.. here's a URL to what I
have so far"

with lots of detail, easy to follow requests for help, and a clear
sense  that you have done your homework, and if you get over this hump,
your next question will be DIFFERENT...

People will be falling over themselves to be nurturing. Trust me.

JWs problems include the fact that he's not polite, he doesn't do his
homework, and he asks the same questions over and over. The above would
be none of those.

As I've said, I'm just a gadfly, to a certain extent butting in and
enjoying the show, but that's my sense of how the stalwarts operate
around here.
