Just to throw in my $0.02 (and I'm not disagreeing with much that has been
said so far):
Fairness to minors is not the issue. Don't let your bleeding heart ever get in
the way here.
It's not really up to the minor/s (so don't worry about alienating them) as to
whether or not this matters - it's up to their parents. Case in point, my wife
wanted to put pictures of her school-age piano students up on her site as a
way of publicly praising them (student of the month, etc.), but a parent told
us that we couldn't use any of her children's pictures for fear of some sicko
and we saw it to be a very reasonable and valid concern (I don't even have a
picture of me up anywhere).
So now it's names only for minors without any age references or illusion and
no bio/contact info for them: no school, city sports or any other info other
than "Suzy Smith has really started practising more, and it really shows! Go
Suzy!", even if parents say it's okay. That's the rules for us.
Should any minor wish to make him/herself known on the web, there are
certainly plenty of places and opportunity to do it(1), but I recommend
keeping such personal info away from your site as well as Lugnet. Linking to
"Little Billy's Spaceships" is one thing, but don't link to his bio. If
something happens it's not worth the risk even being implicated.

(1) I am totally for parents educating their kids about the web and it's good
and bad sides as early as their kids can get online by themselves.
