hey admins,
i cleared my cookies and other internet files the other night and mistakenly
erased my lugnet password. could one of you please send it to me.

The process is that a new one will be randomly generated and sent, Admins don't
have a way to know what your password is, nor should they. I think but am not
sure all your old ones are invalidated first.

that's fine since i don't remember any of my old ones. that is after all why i
asked for one.

Who did you try mailing before you posted? Mailing usually works, eventually.
Right now Todd hasn't set up how to reset passwords for anyone else yet (a
coding project perhaps...) so you eventually hvae to reach him somehow to get it
done.

the last time i mailed someone about doing this about 2 yrs ago it took allmost
a month to get a resopnce. that's why i asked here.

i prommis to
save it in a word file this time.
thanks,
ondrew

Better yet, once you have one setup, choose another one too, so that even if you
forget one you still have another one. The password checker has a lot of good
suggestions on how to make a secure yet remememberable password. passwords you
choose that are strong, are better than passwords some random generator chose
for you..

well after going through lugnet just clicking on links hopig to find something i
found the add a password feature. now that i know where it is i'll probably use
it but i first need an old password which i don't have.

This message would be a lot better if I could have remembered the URL for the
password checker and the password manipulation facility easily, they're not in
obvious places. We need to add this info in more places I guess.

Ok found thenm

http://www.lugnet.com/people/members/pw/ (manipulate your existing passwords,
you have to know at least one of them)

And

http://www.lugnet.com/people/members/pwsa/ (how good is your proposed password,
is it strong enough for LUGNET?)

And

http://www.lugnet.com/people/members/password-suggestions (how to make a good
password)

Hope that helps.

(...) Hi Ondrew, I just asked the server to reset your password. Sorry it's still such a clumsy system. There's light at the end of the tunnel here, though. Last week (or what seems like last week; it may actually have been two weeks ago) I (...) (19 years ago, 8-Mar-05, to lugnet.admin.general)

(...) Right. Sorry for any confusion on my part. When you said "mistakenly erased my lugnet password. could one of you please send it to me." I took that to mean you wanted *IT* sent rather than a new one generated and sent. So I explained, thinking (...) (19 years ago, 8-Mar-05, to lugnet.admin.general)
