I agree with your suggestions. In fact, I think it helps cut down the trash on Lugnet becuase you have to be registered to post, AND Lugnet always shows your real name. Yea, we still get trash (and different people will judge what is trash (...) (20 years ago, 2-Sep-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.admin.general)

(...) The problem as others have pointed out is abuse. But what if the "un-spotlight" were merely advisory? It wouldn't have any effect until an administrator (curator perhaps) agrees. I too have suddenly started to have problems with the email auth. I post via SMTP, but my last two attempts failed - just never got the auth email. Never had a problem before, always get the email almost instantly. Shouldn't be any email routing (...) (20 years ago, 29-Aug-04, to lugnet.admin.general)

Sorry for the left (and wrong) "wrote" header, my previous post should be: I think un-voting is still a bad idea, even with a limited amount of votes this can already have an very adversary effect, see: (URL) that it is a clean voting process, (...)
