It is long, but Part One and Three Things to Accept are IMO the most
interesting and relevant reads, and discusses real experiences (and often
failures) of online communities that should be heeded.
I offer this merely as another input for the ad hoc group to consider as they
restructure LUGNET, especially as we potentially move from a monarchy to a
democracy.

Thanks, Mark, for linking to this. I finally got a chance to print it out and
read it. The article illustrated and then tied together many disjointed thoughts
Ive been having about our online communities. This helps a lot in refining my
thinking.
Im only disappointed some projects Im involved with are a bit beyond the stage
of easily encorporating some of the suggestions. But, others are not :-)
