We typically do not enter sets into the database until their official
release.

Our policy at Brickset is that sets are added to the database once they have
been confirmed from public sources, i.e., they have not been leaked from a
retailer's catalogue.

I see Huw noted a number of those as July 2002 releases.

I have just corrected these as they were released in January, at least in
the UK. In fact all of the sets Vincent mentioned were released in January,
I believe.

Others are
duplicates of existing sets in the db, re-released as promotions that are
not widely available.

This is where we like to specialise...

Actually I am surprised that there is a disparity because Dan Boger has
details for retreiving the contents of Brickset from an XML web service on
demand, and I am more than happy for it to be used to keep LUGNET up to
date.

(...) Yeah, it's basically the same for us. Though unreleased sets may not be a priority, they do happen. Like when Brad Justus holds up a box at BrickFest... I think Jenn Boger had the Retroliner entered in under a minute. :-) I'd like LUGNET's set (...) (22 years ago, 30-Apr-02, to lugnet.admin.database)
