Thanks again for the new info, Jeff! (a couple questions below, BTW) (...) The price differences are due to "aging" of the products. For example, you found a baseplate which sold for ~$6.75 in 1986, and then later for $8.00, and then even later for (...) (25 years ago, 30-May-99, to lugnet.admin.database)

Opps, I forgot to reply.... yes I did check the mint copy of the 1961 Samsonite Catalog. The writing does say "V1867". So this is not a date (1967?), but some internal code? Since LEGO (Samsonite) was sold in the USA for the first time in 1961, and (...) (25 years ago, 24-May-99, to lugnet.admin.database)
