When I had the light sensor pointed at the IR tower, it apparently drowned out the RCX, and I couldn't download an NQC program. Covering it during the download solved the problem. I did the same for a proximity sensor for the same reason. Dave Paule (25 years ago, 5-Jan-00, to lugnet.robotics)

i had a short circuit between the handyboard's TO3 port and the handyboard's 11V supply. Now, whenever i turn the board on there's only black boxes on the LCD display. the Power LED is on and the board is in Zap mode. the message says that the board (...)
