Hi David ... There are two types of switches commonly available. One is a small plastic box with a metal ball inside ... when it rolls in one direction it touches two contacts and closes the circuit ... tilt it the other direction and the ball rolls (...) That should be trivial. I've used one of those mercury-bubble-in-a-glass-tube switches from a thermostat in a model railroad application before. Check (URL) for the story and a picture.
