Re: Converting an Emerald Knight to run on 9 volt track

(...) Crap, Iam an idiot, not paying attention my spelling AND, AND more importantly the correct name of the train! Thanks, I will fix the webpage (of course here(LUGNET) I am doomed to live with the mistake for internet eternity)mistakes ASAP. (...) (15 years ago, 30-Nov-09, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Converting an Emerald Knight to run on 9 volt track

(...) FWIW, on the page it's "Night", and "bogey". I will probably be ordering my EN today, and am too considering options. I have quite a mix of 9V and RC stuff (in fact, about 1/2 the Lego trains back to 1980) Probably I will suck it up and buy (...) (15 years ago, 30-Nov-09, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Converting an Emerald Knight to run on 9 volt track

(...) Ted Mainly due to the fact that the RPM will be different from each motor, meaning that one motor will be working much harder than the other, thus lessening the life of the overworked motor. Also the torque and friction is much higher in the (...) (15 years ago, 30-Nov-09, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Converting an Emerald Knight to run on 9 volt track

(...) Good question, Ted. That is what Ross did with the old 4.5 motor block-- he simply cut the ends off of a 4.5 volt wire and a 9 volt wire, spliced them together, and ran the 4.5 motor off of the power from the 9 volt train motor. JOHN (15 years ago, 30-Nov-09, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Converting an Emerald Knight to run on 9 volt track

(...) Peter- Very cool. And "they" said it could not be done! Question: What about leaving the 9V motor unit intact and still running a wire from it to the Emerald Night's motor, giving 2 motors in parallel with more pulling power and saving the (...) (15 years ago, 30-Nov-09, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Pulling power of different train systems

(...) Hey, Benn- I'll tell you what I'd like to see-- some third party coming in and dropping in beefier motors in the existing train motor. That would be cool. Come to think of it, didn't somebody actually try that? I've heard from those in the (...) (15 years ago, 30-Nov-09, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Pulling power of different train systems

(...) ... (...) This is an interesting discussion. Keep in mind that the 9v system was also designed for kids, which is why the motors have so little pulling power. Like you, I've looked at the 8866 and figured it would be of little use to me. But I (...) (15 years ago, 30-Nov-09, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Datsville At Night

I replaced the 3024's + light.dat with Datshine objects. It worked well, its just that the light misses the front of the statue. (URL) about we move the spots, or add a spot aiming to the front of the statue? /Tore (15 years ago, 30-Nov-09, to lugnet.cad.dat.models, lugnet.cad.ray)

Converting an Emerald Knight to run on 9 volt track

Well, I have finally made an attempt at converting my Emerald Knight to run on the 9 volt track. Using the Power Functions as show in the instructions and a non functioning train motor unit I was able to make the engine run. I gutted the motor (...) (15 years ago, 30-Nov-09, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Non-LEGO train question

(...) Thanks, John! I figured--if nothing else--then the main train-brains here would be able to point me to a good infosource outside of LUGNET. I'll check it ou! Dave! (15 years ago, 28-Nov-09, to lugnet.trains, FTX)
