  Re: Make tracks in LDraw

(...) I believe another way to go is use TrackDraw to draw a circle and have it output the Ldraw file... could be wrong. (20 years ago, 20-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.cad)

  Re: Small town building reference

(...) I hate to give away all my good secrets :), but seriously The Skyscaper Page has a great gallery of user posted urban photos. Don't let the website name fool you - it's not just skyscraper pics. Much of it is photos of more generalized urban (...) (20 years ago, 20-Jan-06, to lugnet.town, FTX)

Re: Has anyone thought of this?

(...) Ah, yes, okay, cool. I didn't follow you closely enough-- I only parsed the "integrate train axles into the technic" part. Ross is working on some new electric power system but he's hit the wall in terms of interest in the project and I fear (...) (20 years ago, 20-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Pneumatic Control in 8868 Alternate Model

(...) Alas, the 9617 and 9633 Pneumatic sets are no longer in production - retired, to use the proper terminology. So also has the 5218 pneumatic pack and much other useful pneumatic stuff. The current sets are the 8421 and the 8436. You would be (...) (20 years ago, 20-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic, FTX)

Re: Has anyone thought of this?

(...) Yeah but the ones on the motor (that do the actual driving) have rubber rings. Until they get worn down. So I guess it's not an issue for non-driven wheels, but your example suggested you're thinking about using them for driving too. ROSCO (20 years ago, 20-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Has anyone thought of this?

(...) Yes, I know this too. In fact my first choice WAS the 2x2 round plate for this same reason, and I didn't think of it as being as good for the same reason. But it can easily be greebled up externally by bogie detailing, and be made to look (...) (20 years ago, 20-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Re: Make tracks in LDraw

(...) It took me a while to figure out the angle and a rotation point, but here you go. (URL) Dean Earley, Dee (dean@earlsoft.co.uk) irc: irc://irc.blitzed.org/ web: (URL) +44 (0)780 8369596 (20 years ago, 20-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.cad)

Re: Has anyone thought of this?

(...) I think you're gonna have a couple of problems with it: The 2x2 round parts don't always attach very strongly to the flange parts - and as they carry the weight and provide the traction, they will probably be prone to falling off unless you (...)   Re: Why Java for Robots (university vs hobbyists)

(...) Maybe we are at cross purposes here. You may be right, that for many hobbyists, Java is too advanced and complex, and since their needs are simpler, C is more than enough. Ease of use and low cost is probably more important than computing (...) (20 years ago, 19-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)
