  Re: New Mecha: Talon

(...) To me The Talon is one of your best mechs so far. Spotlighted! (URL) Marco> (20 years ago, 9-Dec-05, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

Re: How much weight can a LEGO chassis carry around?

(...) It might work to make a robot that tows the laptop on a trailer setup? At a parent night at my school, I towed small children on a trailer (a couple of physics crash carts that they stood on like skatebaords), using a simple robot driven by (...) (20 years ago, 9-Dec-05, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Delta - another infantry support bot

(...) Hello Jon, as far as I can remember the AT-PT is piloted, which delta isn't. I can't picture the Load Lifter Droid. Delta was born out of the pieces. I had those parts I thought they would give a good upper leg. That's how it started. (...) (...) (20 years ago, 9-Dec-05, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

Re: Mech Bay 09 - The Cub Den

(...) Hi Eric, I like the overall industrial look. I can imagine a mech support facility could look like your new bay. Well done! Could you publish some more detail pics, please. You may already know, I like to borrow ideas. Sommetimes this helps me (...) (20 years ago, 9-Dec-05, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: How much weight can a LEGO chassis carry around?

(...) Yeah - but you can add more axles and more wheels so that the load is shared across more axles. That keeps the distance between the axles small which helps out with chassis stiffness issues too - and since you'll probably want more than two (...) (20 years ago, 9-Dec-05, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: How much weight can a LEGO chassis carry around?

(...) The Achilles heal is the bearing ability of a cross axle in a hole. Above a certain load, you will make a constant supply of ABS dust, which means you will have to replace a few key pieces from time to time. Beyond the actual bearing surface (...)   Those Silly AI programs (was: Design)

My favorite: A neural net was trained to recognize tanks. It worked perfectly on all the test data, but failed completely on real data. To create the test data, they shot pictures of some tanks, and some pictures of cars and other non-tank vehicles (...) (20 years ago, 9-Dec-05, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: How much weight can a LEGO chassis carry around?

(...) Well, you can build enormous and very strong structures out of Lego - there are people who've built life-sized dinosaurs and such. With enough Lego and careful construction, I have no doubt you could build something that would carry 50 or 60 (...) (20 years ago, 9-Dec-05, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: NQJ2? Re: NQJ - Brick It Forward - not goodbye, but adieu

(...) Here's my rationale: a) I thought that the "brick" rounds of NQJ1 were kinda stupid. When sets began to be traded, it actively became interesting because there was a reason for playing beyond random stupidity (though your tile is now AFOL (...)
