Hmm, I just had a quick idea that may be what you're looking for, what about a ratchet system? Take a gander at what the Spyrius Robo-Guardian 6949 uses for keeping the arms in a raised position. The only reason I thought of this is that I'm in the (...) (21 years ago, 13-Jul-05, to lugnet.build)

This is a pretty interesting idea. Here's a variation that might be slightly more likely to happen: A group of sellers could get together and form a company to sell new/used LEGO parts over the internet, in a network like you describe. Their online (...) (21 years ago, 13-Jul-05, to lugnet.general)
