I've used the sonar board and transducer from several Polaroid "Pronto Land Cameras" for just that purpose in that past. I don't know how these compare to the Spectra; I would assume they're similar if not identical. There was an article in an old (...) (27 years ago, 21-Sep-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Did anyone ever opened up a Polaroid Spectra Instant camera? I did. The sonar rangefinder is almost identical to the Polaroid 6500 exept there are some problems that I encountered 1) BLNK and BINH have no efect on the ECHO output 2) The ECHO signal (...) From the "other" mailing list I'm on (BEAM robotics), try: www.solarbotics.com They have a lot of parts and information for solar powered robots. I've bought stuff from them and had good experiences. Hey folks looking for a cheap source of solar cells... I wanna make something around 8 volts and between .5 to 1 amp The load will be that of a "modified" rc car motor (ball bearings, slot armature, 15 winds) Any help would be greatly appreciated (...) I think what you may be wondering is how does the code do all this at once instead of sequentially as normal code runs. If you are not wondering this then I'll tell you anyway.
