I've used the sonar board and transducer from several Polaroid "Pronto
Land Cameras" for just that purpose in that past.  I don't know how
these compare to the Spectra; I would assume they're similar if not
identical.  There was an article in an old BYTE magazine (also
reproduced in one of the Ciarcia's Circuit Cellar books) that dealt
with cutting a couple of traces and adding a couple of jumpers to make
the sonar usable with a computer.  I think my copies are in the
basement; if anyone is interested, perhaps I could scan the pictures
showing what to cut and jumper and put them on my web page; I have to
think that after 10 or 15 years, Steve Ciarcia wouldn't mind...

Instant camera?

I did. The sonar rangefinder is almost identical to the
Polaroid 6500 exept there are some problems that I encountered

1) BLNK and BINH have no efect on the ECHO output
2) The ECHO signal once received does not return to logic low until
power off

If anybody else ever got it to work please let me know!

If it works it sure beats paying $50 for the 6500.

I picked up the camera for $12 at a pawnshop.
