  Re: sonar hookup

(...) Just to fill all of you in, I followed Tom's advice and it is working now. I am going to install the resistor on BINH tonight so I will get the extended range. By the way, what value resistor is best for this signal? I know that the suggested (...) (28 years ago, 9-Apr-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  sonar hookup  [DAT]

I finally got the code loaded into my handyboard to test the unit but I am having some problems. When the program runs I hear ticking from the transducer but the reading on the LCD stays at 0" no matter where it points. I want to make sure that I (...)   Re: running 2 IR

If the IR LEDs both add up to a current requirement of 800ma (the spec on the ztx614) then yes you should be able to. You may want to add a resistor to supply that assures you don't get more than 800ma from supply (if that is Imax for those LEDs). (...) (28 years ago, 9-Apr-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: pressure sensors..

JM, I don't have the book in front of me but Mobile Robots, From Inspiration to Implementation has some info on just this subject. If you don't have it or can't get access to it let me know and I'll do some research for ya. For example if its touch (...) (28 years ago, 9-Apr-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: pressure sensors... antistatic foam

A viable option, depending on what sort of pressure is involved, is to put a thin piece of conductive (ie. antistatic) foam between two metal plates. The resistance between the plates ends up being roughly proportional to the pressure applied. It (...) (28 years ago, 9-Apr-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: running 2 IR

What you can do is just like the schematic for the built-in IR emitter circuit. You need to either software generate your wave or do it like the schematic. If software generated, this output would come from a output port on the HC11 to a transistor (...) (28 years ago, 9-Apr-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: pressure sensors..

James, You can get Forse Sensing Resistors, and you can use strain gauages, but I find the easies thing is to make a bag or balloon of the shape you want, connect a tube to it, and use a small air pressure sensor. These are very cheap and readily (...) (28 years ago, 9-Apr-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
