I guess with plop you mean dropping it ... than it's clear. If you add a part by hotkey 'A' the position is inherited from the previous one, if you drag and drop it, than it uses the position where you place it, the missing coordinate value which (...) (26 years ago, 16-Aug-00, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

(...) thing? (...) This sounds pretty cool. I know I would like a front end for l3p so that I don't have to enter dos commands. I don't know if you should include Mlcad in there though. I think it can stand on its own (also a possibility for (...) (26 years ago, 16-Aug-00, to lugnet.cad)
