I ended up getting 6988 for 26 bucks with a few replacement parts and no battery box or wires. I haven't got it in the mail yet, but it's well worth it to me. I can get the rest for about $10 from shop at home, and the pieces that were replaced, (...) (26 years ago, 10-Mar-00, to lugnet.space)

Actually, there is a whole newsgroup devoted to using a PlamPilot as the controller. lugnet.robotics.palm I have an Apple Newton 110 that I would love to get more use out of (I use it to track projects and my time involved in them now). -_eric (...) (26 years ago, 10-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

(...) huh? Do you mean it just writes text to the RCX without any synchronization or checksums? Then how is it going to be an improvement over a plain ascii upload using e.g. ascii-xfr? (...) But then you can't use those constants (i.e the words, (...) (26 years ago, 10-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.pbforth)
