Just saw this on BS. Ive heard the set mentioned by name on Eurobricks but
to see it... just WOW.

Amazing lego set. I cant see myself buying it, but really look forward to
seeing builders expand upon it and make blocks of similarly styled and detailed
buildings.

I agree. Congratulations to TLG for creating a real town building!
I see the TLG designers were taking notes with respect to your wheel well
trim/lintel idea;-)

Huh-- why is that? Id think it would make a fantastic set for various parts,
even if youre not interested in the model (since it might not necessarily fit
into your desired scale or scheme).

Price. I cant see the day where I would spend more than $40-$50 (if even that)
on a set any more. Not that I disagree with you or feel it is not worth
whatever the price will be. I just dont spend that kind of money on sets. Id
rather go to Bricklink or PAB and get exactly what I need.
The drawback to this approach, for me, is not seeing the building instructions
and learning potential new building techniques.
Again, to be very clear: It is not because I dont think it is worth the money
or an incredible set. I am very happy to see it as a set and everything that it
stands for with regards to the community and experienced builder. I am not
intending to come across negatively in anyway with regards to this set.
It is awesome.

Ahh, ok. I thought it might be either the price tag or the bley issue, but just
checking.
For myself, Ive found buying sets to be kinda helpful insofar as it exposes me
to new pieces and increases my collections potential. Kind of like when I
suddenly needed hundreds of this piece:
. Its not something I ever
would have thought to buy (certainly not in quantity), but it was kind of like
magic suddenly realizing that I had about 200 of them, because I happened to
have bought sets that had them. Of course, it does mean obviously that I get
bunches of pieces I never use, but still-- Im often suprised at what I end up
using!

There is no bley issue with me. This is my home layout. Bley is all over it.

Totally agreed. Hence my mention on the instructions. One of my goals is to
keep my stock of bricks waiting to be used as low as possible too. It gets
frustrating at times, not having exactly what I need at my finger tips, but it
works for me.

Not that I think anyone should care, but I gave this a little more thought and
decided that if indeed it is $140.00 I will be buying this set and I will be
doing it as soon as I learn that it is available. I am going to build it too.
Something I havent done in a long, long time. (Maersk ship was the last build
for me. Previous one to that was a long time ago as well).
I plan on building it and displaying it as is with hopes of future buildings
from TLG to add to it.
I really think this is a special set.
