Hello everyone,

I recently bought the Robotics Invention Kit 2.0 with the USB IrTower. I own
a Mac Powerbook G4 and run Virtual PC 4.02 with the latest additions on my
Mac OS 9.1 system. The virtual PC recognized the Tower and when I try to
download the firmware to my RCX the green LED is on for a while. However,
then I hear a beep and LEGO's software tells me that a connection failure
has occurred.

RCX and Tower both work fine when I tested them on a real PC machine. I
downloaded the firmware there and succeeded. I tried it again on the Mac,
and the error occurred again. Only this time, some stray signals from the
tower seemed to have erased the firmware on the RCX. At least the display
changed back to how it was when I got it (no 4 zeros to the left of the
little person...)

Maybe somebody can help me to explain what's going on here? Why doesn't the
USB tower work with virtual PC? I tried to find info on this problem on the
web, but only found stuff concerning RIS 1.5...

Thanks a lot,
Armin Hinterwirth
