Hey all - I put up the pictures from the WAMALUG [1] GATS[2] setup and from
the first day.  Also tried to take some short mpgs with our mavica... Take
a look at:

I'm sure in the following respect, that I speak for the others, we're glad you
loved our stuff. It's just gonna keep getting better and better with the
talent that we have on hand.

The MPEGs rocked!!!
I loved them too, but I'm biased slightly, I liked the MPEG of my modified
Railway Express, now called the "Blue Streak," the best.

more of this more of this more of this!  :)  :)
Maybe Dan and Kevin will put more MPEGs up, with some more pictures.

yup, there's about 15 more mpgs and lots of more pics....  The pics
are already up on my page (http://www.giccs.georgetown.edu/~dan/lego)
and I'll fix my page generation script today to deal with mpgs as
well, so they'll be up there too.

I can't believe you were recording this:

http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/zigdon/Wamalug/GATS/cranecrash.mpg

Cool!

I should explain... The show was almost over and I was experimenting
with the lifting limits of the crane.  The flatbed trailer (that the
beams were delivered to the construction site on) was just a little too
heavy to lift.  I grabbed a roll of duct tape to use as additional
counterweight.  That worked and as you can see I was able to lift the
flatbed on top of the building.  Unfortunately, I diddn't think about what
would happen when the crane no longer had the load of the flatbed.
The instant the flatbed rested on the building the crane fell backwards and
made a most impressive disaster that was unfortunately not caught on tape.

actually it was Chris Tracy who was filming it, and the reason he didn't get
the end of the crash was that he was running away to avoid being hurt (or
damaging the camera!)  :)

I believe it was liberated from the Potomac Mills Lego Outlet store, for a
weekend out. (See, he has a badge to get back in the store and everything.)
And no, you can't buy one. Move down here to the D.C. area and we might let
you join so you can touch the maxi-fig too, (it will only cost you, and just
you Larry, 3 Crocodille Engines, a small price to pay).

Actually membership in the club is not a requirement for touching the
maxi-fig.
They are at the Potomac Mills store, a whole gaggle of them.  This was
loaned
to us for use at our show, and will be returned.  I should note that they
are not for sale.

However, 3 crocodile engines(1) will buy anyone a special tour of the
district;
including trips to the stores where we have found rare or discounted lego,
the site of the first WAMALUG meeting, and a dinner where you can watch
us make Jeff Stembel eat foods he doesn't like.

-Chris

Your kidding, right? (Shhh... be quiet, maybe he was and is now hoping for a
way out...) Well, maybe a small donation, not for me mind you, for WAMALUG...

No Larry, it wont cost you or anyone else anything to come down to D.C. to
play with us crazy folks at WAMALUG. (YOU FOOL!! YOU'VE LET HIM OFF THE
HOOK!!!) [Be quiet, you.] Just bring some stuff we can steal, er, be inspired
by with you. I can't, (or won't,) speak for the others, but I'm sure you or
almost any other hardcore train head would be welcome to visit with us
anytime. I think we're looking at a meeting sometime toward the later
middle/endish of the month of March. Heck, I might even put you up for a
couple of days, (that just might cost you a "croc" though).
