Greetings, fellow AFOL,
I'm not new to Lugnet, however I am new to the area. I just moved to Towson,
Maryland, just north of Baltimore. Is there anyone nearby? Maybe we can meet
some time.
My four year-old son, Spencer, and I are enjoying a fairly large collection of
Lego (estimate 120,000 parts). However, I am still trying to get all of this
fun stuff organized. (Spencer, though I love him dearly, is of no help in this
matter!)
I have a two of blue tubs, and it occurred to me that I could use about six
more. A few months ago, I mentioned this to Linsday Braun, just before he left
Princeton for Europe, and just AFTER he chucked about twenty empty tubs.
Oops. Would any one else have a few unwanted blue tubs kicking around? Let me
know, and I'll work out a way to take them off your hands.

Boy i wish! Dan and I have blown through 60-70 blue tubs in our sorting
process, with another 26 on the way. We actually purchase empty ones
cross country from another lugneter for a couple of dollars each plus
shipping... if you find a better deal, let me know :)

And I do wish I'd known--man! I had 20 of the things!
Hope you're settling in well, WAMALUG's a good bunch. I may make
Brickfest this year--I sort of promised, and I have a Boat to show
off.
In the Netherlands, only rain. :(

I don't have any blue tubs that I want to get rid of but I have a bunch of
the small red (4285), large red (4288), and purple (2494) buckets that I
want to get rid of.
I know that WAMALUG (now WAMALTC I guess) were using the small tubs as post
holders for the train show ropes. I wasn't really happy with the look of
them since the poles never stood up straight. I was thinking about taking
some buckets and pouring some cement in them to make them stable and was
trying to figure a way to replace the wood poles with PVC tubes but if I put
the poles in the cement they won't come out and would be awkward to
transport. I was looking for a larger tube that I could put in the cement
and slip the tubes that would hold the rope into but I haven't found any
that would fit. I was looking into this several months ago but wasn't happy
with the results. I just thought this might be a cool thing to do for the
club but I hadn't gotten around to talking to anybody about this yet.
All these small tubs are sitting around and either I need to move them into
the shed in the backyard until I have more time to deal with them or I'd be
happy to give them to somebody who could use them. My preference would be
to give them to somebody to continue with my idea but otherwise I'd be happy
to give them to a good home if all you wanted to use them for is storage.
Yeah, I know they aren't as good as the blue tubs for storage, but...
If I hear any good responses I can bring them to the meeting this Saturday.

Abe-
This was something I wanted to fix before I left the area but never
had the chance. I built the original crowd barriers, *hours* before our
first show so they are a little ad hoc. Here was my plan for fixxing
them.
First get yourself a piece of PVC pipe (1.5(maybe 2 might be better)
inches in diameter), you'll need about 3" for every bucket. Cut the the
pipe into 3" segments. Place in the bottom of the bucket in the
ecenter. Mix up concrete. Pour concrete around the outside of the pvc
pipe so the pipe forms the hole to place the post.
