Just a reminder that this Saturday we'll be meeting at Digipen for our SMART
meeting. The meeting will be from 3-5pm.

The mini-challenge we voted on was to build (or improve) robots that do
something with cubes.

See you all there!

Our next SMART meeting is coming up soon. Next weekend, on Saturday January
25th, we'll be meeting from 3-5pm in the Descartes room at Digipen.

The mini-challenge is to build a robot that does something with cubes. You can
use any cube you like, but a standard LEGO cube made out of bricks can be seen
in this illustration:

I will bring some white and some black cubes, and perhaps some red or blue ones
as well.

Hi John! Whoops, I think my account must have my old email address attached. Let
me fix that, and I will email you. So sorry about that!

Hi there!

My husband and I are getting out of Lego -- we just don't have time and would

Would SANDLUG, or someone in SANDLUG, be interested in buying them from us? We
have several of the Modular Buildings (Cafe Corner, Green Grocer, Emporium,
Market Street, Fire Brigade), a Metroliner, a Super Chief, and many other nifty
sets, including some of the nice medieval village sets.

We're local to San Diego and would be willing to drive to drop them off. I can
provide you with a complete list of the sets if anyone is interested, plus there
will be some odds and ends. We're hoping to get $2000 for everything, which is
well under what we could sell it for on Bricklink. We just don't want to go
through the hassle.

I apologize for not going through your website, but if you're not a member of
SANDLUG, you apparently can't contact the site moderator.

Thanks in advance!

The next SMART meeting will be in January. At our last meeting our
mini-challenge was candy manipulating robots, and we decided to continue with
the idea of manipulating objects, though this time it will be 4x4x4 LEGO cubes.
You can build your own cubes; here’s an image of what they look like:
http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/David/SMART/Samples/4x4x4cube.gif. I will
bring a number of black and white cubes, perhaps some blue and or red ones as
well. And if you don’t like this particular cube, you are welcome to bring any
other type of cube you would rather manipulate instead, including cubes not made
out of LEGO.

Build a tower, build a wall, stack them or flip them, sort them, or juggle them,
whatever you like.

The meeting will be on January 25th, next year. I’ll provide more details as we
get closer to that date. In the meantime, you have plenty of time to build an
awesome robot!

We had a very interesting BrickHeap Wars competition at our September meeting.
Following the meeting we voted on our mini-challenge for the October meeting
which will take place in two weeks, on October 26th. The meeting runs from
2-5pm, and we'll be meeting in the Gibran room.

The mini-challenge we picked was "Candy Bot". Build a robot that somehow makes
use of candy. Use your imagination. Robots are not limited to these ideas, but
you might do things like give candy away (it's Halloween soon after the meeting)
or sell it. Perhaps they can throw it, or if you can figure out how to, you
might use the candy as a power source.

Hope to see you soon!
