Re: What is happening with SciBrick??

(...) Thank you for the support! (...) I know there are a fairly large number of people who are interested, but would like to see the org take shape before really committing themselves - which is why I made my post! Once again, thanks for the (...) (19 years ago, 1-Feb-05, to lugnet.org.scibrick, FTX)

Re: What is happening with SciBrick??

(...) Thanks! (...) Yes - thats the idea. (...) We have a membership list, and it is also in flux. :o) Right now we have a discussion list on yahoogroups, but given some problems with yahoogroups, I'm contemplating other options. -Lenny (19 years ago, 1-Feb-05, to lugnet.org.scibrick, FTX)

Re: What is happening with SciBrick??

(...) Lenny, I think the streamlining of the mission statement is a step in a good direction, blazing a path that is more clearcut from the start, so to speak. I can recall sitting in the Mosaic room at Brickfest '03 and hearing about SciBrick for (...) (19 years ago, 1-Feb-05, to lugnet.org.scibrick, FTX)

  What is happening with SciBrick??

Hey Lenny, what is up with SciBrick?? I've been getting this question off and on since the (URL) 'We Want You' Affair>, and my answer has been mostly "SciBrick is re-organizing itself, developments to be mentioned later." I'd like to expand upon (...) (19 years ago, 31-Jan-05, to lugnet.org.scibrick, FTX)

Re: Is there an official "membership" for SciBrick?

(...) Sure. Keep in mind we don't have to use your suggestions ;) - but I'm always open to hearing people's ideas. What sort of suggestions did you have in mind? It might be more appropriate to email me about them (Comm.Officer@scibrick.org) than to (...) (20 years ago, 26-Oct-04, to lugnet.org.scibrick)

Re: Is there an official "membership" for SciBrick?

(...) Hey Jeff, Yes SciBrick has an actual membership - we've mainly been discussing how to respond to whats been happening lately. As I'm sure you can guess, SciBrick is going through a transitional moment - basically we're really committing to (...) (20 years ago, 26-Oct-04, to lugnet.org.scibrick)

Is there an official "membership" for SciBrick?

Is there an official "membership" for SciBrick? I'm asking because there still isn't much on the website and the only thing I see here is a "heated debate". I'm a die hard Lego Space fanatic, since before I owned the Lunar Landing set (you know, the (...) (20 years ago, 26-Oct-04, to lugnet.org.scibrick)

Sir, you rasie good points and you have touched on areas where some confusion has ocurred. I would like to formulate a response out of respect for you and the whole situation. Expect it. e P.S. Building Mech Bay 07 (20 years ago, 26-Oct-04, to lugnet.org.scibrick)

Re: SciBrick is looking for you!

Sorry for prolonging this, but a few things in the post below trouble me. I have no vested interest in Sci-Brick, nor do I have a specific problem with any of the parties involved, but when I detect illogic, and stated aims in disparity with actions (...)   Re: SciBrick is looking for you!

(...) It was more a matter of keeping the table easier to read and deal with for things like just listing members, which doesn't require a full bio and location, than of actually saving bytes. (...)   Re: SciBrick is looking for you!

(...) Depends how much space you need to save, I guess. If you're using varchar's or text fields (for profiles certainly), you're only adding an extra... 2 bytes for a null entry? Forget if it's 1 or 2. So maybe 18 bytes extra per member. I guess (...) (20 years ago, 25-Oct-04, to lugnet.org.scibrick, FTX)

Re: SciBrick is looking for you!

(...) I think I might have required unique member ids on those tables too. The idea was to keep the number of columns in sb_m down, but maybe that's not really necessary. (...)   Re: SciBrick is looking for you!

(...) I might suggest combining sb_m, sb_m_loc, and sb_m_profile into sb_m, and just not fill in the _loc and _profile bits unless either supplied or member is a "full" member. Unless people can have multiple locations and profiles... Also, you (...) (20 years ago, 25-Oct-04, to lugnet.org.scibrick)
