minifig series 3 goes up from $1.99 to $2.99

so i just noticed on the lego.com site that the series 3 figures (8803) will be available january 1, 2011 and they'll be $2.99. on the same theme page one can still see that series 2 figures (8684) were $1.99. umm..what's up with the figs going up (...)   Re: Series 3 Minifigs go up from $1.99 to $2.99

(...) If it means that they're going to start using the regular LEGO plastic to make the MF's, then I'm fine with it. If not, then it looks like they just got a case of The Greedies. My local Meijer store had Series 3 for $1.99, so the MSRP didn't (...) (13 years ago, 23-Dec-10, to lugnet.general, lugnet.market.shopping)

(...) While the plastic on the series 3 looks the same as S1 and S2, I can say that so far, S3 clutch power of feet to baseplate is much better than S1 and S2. Just my observation. Chris (13 years ago, 23-Dec-10, to lugnet.general, lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: minifig series 3 goes up from $1.99 to $2.99

(...) Maybe they want to have the US price a bit closer to what we pay here at the right side of the pond - $3.52 at todays exchange rate (25 SEK). (13 years ago, 24-Dec-10, to lugnet.general)

Re: minifig series 3 goes up from $1.99 to $2.99

(...) I had to reply, since it looks like $3.52 works out to be cheaper. If I account for VAT (25% for Sweden?) you get $2.82. In the case of US prices, without tax it is $2.99. I agree the math does not work for all Lego sets. But that maybe a (...) (13 years ago, 25-Dec-10, to lugnet.general)

(...) *pulls out well-worn soap box* Okay, here's how it works. TLC has internal costs, and they have to make sure that they cover those costs and make a profit beyond that when they sell their products, so they have a wholesale pricepoint in mind (...)   Re: minifig series 3 goes up from $1.99 to $2.99

(...) Yeah, I forgot the VAT, sorry, but my comment was to the $1.99 - we paid 25 SEK for that series. The VAT is 25% on the net price, so 20% of the total. That means 20 SEK before VAT. With todays exhange rate that's $2.92 compared to your initial (...) (13 years ago, 26-Dec-10, to lugnet.general)

Re: minifig series 3 goes up from $1.99 to $2.99

(...) True the $1.99 was a much better rate for the US. I realize Lego is a corporate and naturally they need to make a profit -- and more importantly maximize it. But in the 21st century, they may need to factor in ubiquity of information and how (...) (13 years ago, 29-Dec-10, to lugnet.general)

Re: minifig series 3 goes up from $1.99 to $2.99

Don't even think of sweating your 2.99 price. It was 2.99 here in Canada (where uSD/CAD are almost par!!!!) for the first 2 series, and will hit 3.49 for series 4. So you can stop your whining, unless you live north of the Canada/USA border! he he, (...) (13 years ago, 29-Dec-10, to lugnet.general)

Re: minifig series 3 goes up from $1.99 to $2.99

(...) I hate to point this out.... but its called a price adjustment. If there is a high demand for a certain product, why wouldn't the company increase the price... sure its a case of the "greedies" but they aren't a charity case. You have (...) (13 years ago, 2-Jan-11, to lugnet.general)
