Great Ball Gathering Contest Each match of the competition shall be 90 seconds.
The winner of a match is determined by the points the robot scores in the 90
second match. Tournament format will be chosen based on the number of
participants. Possible tournament formats are single elimination, double
elimination and round robin. In the event of a tie of win-loss records at
the end of round robin (if that format is used) total points scored will
determine the winner. Approximately 1,000 soccer balls and 50 basketballs
will be randomly (as evenly as possible) distributed on the table prior to
each round. Additionally, there will be 10 1 ½ plastic balls (like the
balls from FLL) on the table in random locations.

Do you have a part# for the FLL ball and where can we find them?
Thanks in advance, JM

I think it's the same as the standard Duplo ball. Unfortunately I don't think
there are many recent sets that had any in them. A Knights Kingdom set was the
most recent.

There WILL be two such balls in the NXT set when it ships. But if you want to
build your robot to handle them, you could probably just use any light ball of
similar dimensions, making sure that it will handle the actual size.

Thanks for your answer David,
The ball you refer to is at least 6 studs in dianmeter, or 2". There is quite a
big difference with a 1 1/2" ball like a ping pong ball. I think this is to be
clearely identify.
Thanks in advance, JM

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | You are correct. I did not measure them correctly. The balls are 2". They are
the duplo balls that come in the FLL and NXT kits.
Sorry for the confusion, Bryan
