In lugnet.off-topic.debate, Anthony Sava writes:
Unfortunately however, this does not change my views on Lugnet's problem.  Too
often my posts are ignored or looked over or battered, and I am not alone in
feeling that this is wrong.

I really, really wanted to let this die, but I realized that someday you
will be back and that something like this could likely happen again.  With
that in mind I'd like to say the following:

Although a lot of the issues have now been clouded with others, I think
there were specific reasons why people (myself included) got upset with your
posts.  I hope by explaining some of these factors, some of these might not
happen again.

1.  Attitude - When every single person that read your post said that they
did not understand what you wrote, you replied that no one read it.  I hope
you see that such statements are condescending and rude.  I know that I read
your post several times trying to tease out any meaning.  Frankly, parts of
your original post only made sense to you.  Rather than just explain it as a
few people asked you to, you were downright insulting.  In addition, you
treat "collectors" with a fair amount of disdain.  News flash - almost all
of us are Lego collectors.  We value Lego more than the general public and
we try to get our hands on it whenever possible.

2.  Self-centeredness - Saying that you don't think the GI should be first
up is a bit self-centered, but then going on and saying that any other
non-castle release is "unfair" because you want every release to be from
castle is going too far.  I hope you see how selfish this makes you look to
Town, Space, Train, etc. fans.  A bit more empathy in the future can go a
long ways.

3.  Time, place, and manner - Regardless of what you might think, nobody is
trying to silence your opinions.  But there is a "good" way to post and a
"bad" way.  If you said something like, "Hey I think LD could have picked
another set like X, Y, or Z for their first selection and I would have been
happier, but I'm hoping in the future those sets may be released" there
would have been no flame war.  But your original post was inviting negative
comment, which is something I suspect you wanted.  Which brings me to my
next point:

4.  Need for attention - Judging by previous posts as well as this one, I
think you crave a bit of attention.  For example, in

http://news.lugnet.com/castle/?n=8598

you're practically begging people to say that they'll miss you, to come
back, etc.  We all need a bit of attention now and then, but might I suggest
Lugnet is not the place to get all your stroking?  In this thread you
compared yourself to Christ, you felt there was some kind of conspiracy
against you, you claimed *all* of Lugnet had a problem and put it in the top
stories, you announced that you were leaving, and in essence you originally
went trolling.

Now Anthony, I bear you no ill will and hope someday you'll come back as a
positive contributor to our Lugnet community.  I did not intend to be harsh
or mean and apologize if you took it was such.  I hope that in your absence
you reflect upon some of the things you said or did - I know I will do the same.

Jimmy

Lugnet has a problem. No one can have their own opinion if it differs from everyone elses. If they do, they are attacked. Read the posts that were in reply to my own, stating my discontent with the re-release of the Castle set the Guarded Inn. (...) (23 years ago, 9-Jun-01, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.general, lugnet.announce, lugnet.lego.direct) !
