I too am a bit worried about the “social aspects” of the Sheraton, but here are
a couple of suggestions. First of all, the hotel, I think is going to be great
for the convention as one only has to take an elevator up to your room.
My daughter went to a 2 week leadership Seminar at this hotel last summer and it
is really very nice with plenty of lobby cubbyholes as well as lots of room
around the pool. BYOB. When we went to take her and pick her up we found some
pretty darn good places to eat.
We ate at all three of these:
Mc Keevers Pub (American):

A normal bar--great hamburgers and good selection of beer on tap
Right next door to Cafe Tatti

A relatively inexpensive French country restaurant--excelllent and “reasonable”
Le Petit Mistral:

“best scallops and desert I think I have ever eaten--expensive, but the snails
were great also
Along that same road, there was a great Turkish restaurant that we ate in but
cannot remember the name.
All the above are within 10 minutes driving of hotel.
But Mc Keevers Pub could be a good place. A nice normal neighborhood bar.
There were also two or three large clubs in Tyson’s corner, albeit the drinks
not cheap.

| for those of you returning to brickfest who may be familiar with the social aspect of this great fest, a big vignette (bignette) voicing certain attendees' concerns re the bar scene. (2 URLs) rocklands, the bar with a heart, will no longer be around (...)
