Why .Vignette has gone Dark... A commentary by Big Daddy Nelson, who is currently unable to post... 2006-04-01 (with edits on 2006-04-02): Recently, there have been some posts regarding the lack of Administrative leadership on LUGNET. While I personally do not wish to chime in on the replies, I feel that the lack of leadership of this website has now proven itself beyond all shadow of a doubt. To say it quite clearly, LUGNET is like a zombie: Existing, albeit dead. And, to honor the current state of this once-great website, I present my latest vignette, entitled Death visits LUGNET: Clicky Jons post really nailed it! Posts by certain members are usually tolerable, and are akin to the rants of squabbling children. But, when a person violates the TOS, the website Admins (aka the Parents) need to step in - To discipline; To educate; To set the example. Such discipline on LUGNET is lacking. For shame!! 04/02 Edit: It appears that some action has been taken on the above. And, there are other areas of administrative duties that are also lacking. In my case, I have been unable to post anything for the past 3 weeks. Why? Because I simply changed my email address. I had completed the form to note the change, and after a few days of no response, I emailed Suzanne (She replied back to me, stating that she had forwarded my request to Todd.) I then emailed Todd a few days later, and also emailed Matthew a few days after that... Neither replied, and I never received a confirmation email. Now, its 3 weeks later, and I am still unable to post anything - This has been very frustrating, since I have seen some awesome MOC posts recently, which I wanted to reply to. And, it makes me wonder, exactly what did I pay my membership dues for? Please dont get me wrong... I still love LUGNET, and I visit the site every day. I am appreciative of what the Admins have done here. But, I am frustrated with the current lack of leadership and direction, and with the flamewars that go on between some members who choose to take advantage of this situation. I wish and hope for this site to become what it meant to be - the network of Lego User Groups, who will work in harmony to promote LEGO and the hobby of building and collecting. To quote Jon, Wake up, LUGNET! Until then, we will be in the Dark... Clicky |
